Spring 2017 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to your new look newsletter.

As you flick through the pages you will notice that the newsletter has become bolder and brighter with bigger pictures which we hope you enjoy. We would like to hear your feedback so please do let us know what you think.

There has been lots happening in our journey and we have some really exciting things to come like our new Junior Club which opens at the beginning of next term.

We have run some successful fundraising activities within the last term including sponsored walk, a swimathon, a quiz night and a market stall. Butwe can’t stay still and it’s important to continue the funds to ensure we canprovide the very best service including activities and equipment.

This term we have provided more activities where we have welcomed outside providers to run activities. These have included Singing Hands, Malookoo Dance Fitness, a caricature artist and line dancing instructor. We are always looking at ways to improve our offer, so please share your thoughts with us.

We held our first YPB (Young People’s Board) elections in April and I ampleased that the young people have elected three board members.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held at Ham Youth Centre on Monday 26thJune. Please do join us and hear in more detail about our work.

And lastly thank you all for your support over the last few months it has been very much appreciated.

We have been busy looking at the costs of our residential trips. Our trips are always subsidised and have been fortunate to have received additional funding in 2018 and 2019 but long term this cannot guaranteed. We’re pleased that subsidies will continue in 2020, however we are proposing the following new price structure to ensure we can cover the costs to the charity:

£250 per person. For those on low incomes, there will be the opportunity to apply for a additional subsidy. We want as many young people to have the opportunity to come away with us and have an action packed short break.

£250 per person who requires their own PA to attend. There will be no charge for the PA.

£400 per person who require TAG to provide 121 support during trip.

Our aim in 2020 will also be to look at additional funding and take part in fundraising activities to be able to reduce the £400, 121 cost to £250 so there is a one price structure for all.
